Adaptive auger head introduced by Dredge Yard

Dredge Yard adds another innovative dredging solution to their portfolio: the adaptive auger head. The adaptive auger head has two retractable visors placed both on the front and backside of the auger head. The visors move in and out, according to the shape of the seabed and according to the depth. A hydraulic arrangement and pressure settings enable this automatic visor movement. The adaptive auger head achieves several benefits by following the ground during dredging.

Benefits of the adaptive auger head

  1. More production of the sand in less time. The adaptive visors create a strong suction vacuum by continuously following ground.
  2. Much less turbidity than with conical (basket) type cutter heads. Because the adaptive visors control the material spillage. This is a big advantage when dredging in contaminated areas.
  3. The adaptive system saves marine life by protecting animals from entering the suction system in the dredger.
  4. This system ensures an even surface at all depths.
  5. It is suitable for unmanned dredging. The adaptive visors automatically adjust with the ground. That makes them very useful for remote controlled dredgers that work in areas where environment is risky for operators.
  6. The solution perfect for environmental dredging. The adaptive visors keep marine life from getting trapped in the dredging system. They also cause low or even zero turbidity.

The adaptive auger head is, as mentioned above, perfect for environmental dredging or remediation for a number of reasons:

  1. Adaptive auger head supports cleanup operations that are specifically aimed at removing contaminated sediments that can endanger marine and human life.
  2. Remediation dredging means that the thinnest layers possible are accurately removed so that the least possible quantities of contaminated material are dredged.
  3. Treatment of contaminated sediment is costly and secure disposal areas are limited, precision dredging offers a viable solution. Contaminated sediments can be a big risk to human health, the environment and it may limit the use of many water bodies.
  4. The adaptive visors enclose the area being dredged and prevent sediment from drifting into the surrounding waters.

Dredge Yard delivers the Auger dredger

Dredge Yard has engineered and manufactured a compact and economic sediment dredger, also known as their ECO 200 Auger Dredger, which will be used for a desalination plant in the Gulf region.

This piece of equipment can be used particularly in rivers, streams, harbors, ponds, bays or artificial lakes to remove the accumulated sediments in a highly efficient and environment-friendly manner.

The sediment dredger has been designed for 9m dredging depth, with high production underwater dredge pump, 2 floating pontoons stiffened from inside, a ladder made of thick pipe and also stiffened at both ends.

Replaceable components

All the components are driven by a single heavy duty hydraulic pack which is placed outside behind the cabin.

This dredger functions as a cutter suction dredger but the cutting tool is a rotating Archimedean screw set at right angles to the suction pipe.

Dredge Yard can also offer its support in replacing the whole auger head with a new one or to replace the auger head with a cutter head.

Compact design

With its compact design, the sediment dredger can be easily transported or mobilized in separate dismounted parts inside of a container or as a complete unit on the truck by road.

New ECO200 dredger from Dredge Yard

Dredge Yard, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of dredging and mining equipment, took part at the “Dredging in India” conference, held in Mumbai from 3-4 September 2014, and presented its new model, the ECO200 dredger. This dredger can be delivered with auger head or cutter head.

At the event, the company’s Operations Manager, Michel Debo introduced a compact and economic cutter suction dredger, the ECO 200. The vessel was designed by Dredge Yard’s engineers by using the latest CAD technologies, FEA analysis, CFD analysis. The main aim of the company was to make an economic dredger that is low cost at initial acquiring and in daily use as well as robust and efficient in design.

Benefits

This dredger will offer many benefits to operators like an underwater dredge pump placed on the front part of the ladder which will allow the dredger to handle higher dredge mixture and high volume of mixture flow. The complete ECO 200 Cutter Dredger is transportable by standard closed top 40 feet containers, the complete spud assembly together with its hydraulic cylinders is able to be tilted on its pontoon.

This allows the dredger to be towed easier under very low bridges and other obstacles. For the drive of all components being the dredge pump, cutter head, winches and spud cylinders, one hydraulic power pack is provided on the central platform.
